Things to Do

lighthouse

Port Austin is a small village and lake resort town in Huron County at the Tip of the Thumb of Michigan.  There are less than 750 residents, but the summer months bring lots of people and activities to the area.

There are always activities going on such as car shows, craft fairs, softball tournaments, the weekly (Saturday) Port Austin Farmers Market, 4th of July parade and fireworks (you can see it from our house) and the Cheeseburger in Caseville Festival (30 minute scenic drive).

Take a drive and discover all the beautiful Beaches and Lighthouses of the Thumb.  And don’t miss a trip out to Turnip Rock.

Be sure to bring your golf clubs to play Golf & Putt Putt.  Enjoy 18 holes at Bird Creek or try putt putt at one of three local courses.  Kooky Golf is just a block away.  Port Austin Putt Putt is downtown, and Sandy Dunes Adventure Golf is a premium 18-hole course and ice cream shop.  Other favorite local activities include kayak and canoe rental.  You can rent a kayak from Port Austin Kayak to see Turnip Rock, or paddle out to Port Crescent beach on a canoe from Tip-O-Thumb canoe rental.  You can even go on a charter Fishing trip with a knowledgeable local fisherman.

And finally, give our local Restaurants a try.  The food is great and the locals are friendly!
